Globoplay is Globo's streaming service, launched in Brazil on 3 November 2015. It reaches Brazilians abroad through a separate international plan: Globo launched it in the United States in 2020 and in Canada and Europe from 14 October 2021; citing government figures, NotÃcias da TV said the move would reach about 1.1 million Brazilians living in those countries (NotÃcias da TV). By April 2022 the list covered 21 countries: the US, Canada, Japan, Australia and 17 in Europe (Canaltech).
The international plan is bought through the App Store or Google Play, and the Brazilian bundle with live channels, Globoplay + canais ao vivo, is not sold abroad (Canaltech). At the launch in Portugal, the service abroad was presented with seven live channels: Globo, Multishow, GloboNews, GNT, VIVA, SporTV and Premiere. Its international distribution director said the catalogue was structurally the same as Brazil's but could have some limitations; in Portugal, titles then shown on the SIC channel were left out (NaTelinha).
That decides what a VPN can do. GhostShield has no server in Brazil, so it cannot make Globoplay think you are there, and nothing reserved for Brazil comes back through it. What it can do is give you an address in one of the international plan's countries: 16 of its 20 locations are in them, from Miami and New York to London, Paris, Osaka and Sydney.
The only group it might help is international subscribers travelling to a country outside the list, such as the UAE, India or Singapore, and GhostShield has not tested Globoplay. Canaltech cautions that using a VPN with Globoplay is not an official method, may not work, and is at the user's own risk, with possible consequences for the account.
